Pentru identificarea corecta a unui piston sau set de segmenti avem nevoie de cateva indicii:

Intoarceti pistonul invers si masurati diametrul exterior Indiferent ca pistonul este cu "aripi" sau drept ca, cel din imagine, masurati intotdeauna in partea de jos a acestuia. Aceasta cota este implicit interiorul cilindrului si diametrul segmentilor REMARCA: Pastrand pozitia si rotind pistonul puteti descoperi o eroare de 0.01 / 0.3 mm. Acesta este un lucru absolut normal de fabricatie. |

Diametrul boltului Pentru o mai buna precizie puteti masura diametrul exterior al boltului. |
| Distanta din centrul imaginar al boltului pana la camera de ardere: Incercati o aranjare a instrumentului de masurat asemanatoare cu cea din imagine |

| Nu incercarti sa masurati segmentii din exterior: - Riscati sa ii distrugeti ! - Diametrul exterior al acestora este intotdeauna identic cu exteriorul pistonului din prima figura |

Doar asa va puteti da seama cu ochiul liber daca segmentul este conic ( trapez ) sau nu.
